Honolulu Scuba diving tour with Rainbow Scuba Hawaii

Aloha as we get another day closer to the New Year!
As I mentioned in the blog yesterday, I had the pleasure of doing a great night dive to the deep shipwreck Fhe Sea Tiger with Kirsten from Columbus, Ohio. Go Buckeyes!
Well, today as promised she came back and she brought her whole family!
Her mom and dad, Melissa and Andy, her sister Emma along with her brother Blake all converged on Kewalo Basin Harbor for an afternoon of Scuba Diving!
The waters off of world famous Waikiki Beach were perfect for an afternoon of Discover Scuba Diving!
It was a mix of certified divers in Kirsten, Andy and Melissa. Since it was the first time diving for Hanna and Blake we all decided to go as a group for two shallow reef dives, which was the smart choice as the family wanted to all be together under the sea!
With all the gear set to go and the Scuba Cat fueled up we had our greetings, introductions and briefing with no rushing before we undocked.
In just a few minutes we were heading out to sea toward our first dive destination, Turtle Canyon Reef!
As we pulled up to the mooring some 30 feet below, skills practice and gear familiarization continued at a slow pace. We don’t rush anybody at Rainbow Scuba.
The surface weather was perfect and the visibility below was of epic conditions with 90 feet of visibility!
First to take their giant strides toward the adventure were the open water certified divers followed by the first timers. Assured that everyone was comfortable we made our way slowly and confidently to the sandy sea floor just 30 feet below us.
We started out with a great family photo and we were off to see the Hawaiian Green Sea Turtles that comb the dive site. Without disappointment everyone weaved and jockeyed for position as to get into as many turtle pictures that I was snapping off as fast as I could. I’d love to see these guys at the dinner table!
Our 35 minutes at Turtle Canyon was amazing. We climbed back aboard the Scuba Cat, passed around the complimentary beverages and headed to our second dive site at Nautilus Reef!
During the 15 minute boat ride I changed the tanks, adjusted the weights for some and listened intently to the happy banter that was exchanged between the family members who were raving with excitement about the first dive.
Nautilus Reef was still holding its great conditions as we took the plunge down the line to 40 feet. I took another family group picture and we soon headed off to visit the sharks that tend to patrol the ledge along the eastern ridge. Before we could get there we came across a giant 15 pound Helmet Conch Shell and had an octopus encounter! Wow, what a way to begin our 45 minute excursion!
I clicked off dozens of pictures and we were soon away again to be amongst the sharks. As we got to them, I pulled everyone in close so that they could be face to face with the amazing creatures in their natural environment! Everyone was at awe! The typical reaction by divers to hang back and observe from afar, but if you want, Rainbow Scuba will guide you safely within 2-3 feet of them!
We passed over the ridge and explored the westerly valley taking more free underwater photographs which we post to Facebook as another perk to your dive with us!
Before we knew it we were headed back to port and docked safe and sound.
I personally wish to thank everyone from this wonderful family for booking online and choosingRainbow Scuba Hawaii as their Honolulu Scuba Company!
Mahalo for your generous gratuity and please dive with us next year when you return!
Until tomorrow this is Aloha!

Aloha to all our loyal followers and scuba newbies alike!
Talking about a busy holiday dive season for Rainbow Scuba, it’s been a great week.
As you might know we’re a small private boat dive company with a tight, professional staff that have been crewing together for over a decade here in Honolulu. We strive for what all the large cattle car companies and small upstart inexperienced operations can’t provide. That would be affordable scuba diving with special attention to your safety, fun and friendly customer service on a private dive boat.
Most beginners and seasoned divers are looking for exactly what we provide because we have so many appealing perks that nobody else can offer. Our 100% safety rating and thousands of satisfied customers tell the tale!
Our flexible no hassle schedule makes all your needs easy. From booking your reservation to viewing your free photos for years to come you’ll have a quality scuba experience no matter what you skill level is.
Today was no exception to this.
Joining us from all over the world were 6 wonderful guests who had open water certifications, people who have only snorkeled and customers who had never swam in the ocean ever!
It’s all good because Ken and I have been diving and teaching for decades, over 70 years of experience between the two of us combined!
Scott from Seattle, Andy, Max, Ricky from Canada along with Z and Andres from right here in Hawaii all made their way to sunny Kewalo Basin Harbor for a Discover Scuba Dive and refresher tune up scuba dive in shallow waters.
We all did the initial meet and greet to become acquainted before the briefing began aboard our boat The Scuba Cat.
Gear familiarization, safety briefings and skills practice with a no pressure attitude were conducted as we have done thousands of times before just to put everyone in a confident and enthusiastic mood to hit the water!
Before too long we were making way to Turtle Canyon Reef to do the first of two shallow reef dives.
The water on the 35 foot 35 minute dive was crystal clear. Visibility surpassing 90 feet on this southerly wind day. Everyone took the plunge in order. Instructors to moor up the boat, Certified divers who wanted to get back into it after years of not diving and first time divers last.
Skills practice and repetition with calming confidence building encouragement was conducted the way it should be.
Diving and having dozens of complimentary pictures of Hawaiian Green Sea Turtles with everyone amongst them is on of our specialties!
Before we knew it 35 to 40 minutes had passed, everyone was comfortable and nobody wanted to leave!
Fortunately we had one more dive on this undersea adventure so the excitement on the boat ride to the second dive site was rampant!
Within minutes I had us tied up to the famous Horseshoe Reef to guide all to see the sharks. Our 40 minutes at 40 feet was the best part of everyone’s vacation!
The White Tipped Reef Sharks were happy to pose for pictures and the certified divers who took advantage of our camera rental got a double dose of souvenirs on top of the free pictures we take. Scores of eels in 5 varieties and sizes, colorful schools of tropical fish and exotic blends of other sea life were pointed out and a fantastic time was had by everyone for sure!
Our scuba diving day may have just ended for our guests, but Rainbow Scuba had one more night dive charter to go after the sunset.
Nevertheless we parted ways with our afternoon divers with smiles handshakes and memories to last a lifetime!
Mahalo to each and everyone of our new friends for choosing Rainbow Scuba! I know there were no disappointed customers, as per usual.
See you all tonight!

Aloha and good evening night scuba diving fans!
If you’re a certified scuba diver and you’ve yet to experience a night dive, you really need to call us at Rainbow Scuba Hawaii.
Taking the plunge after the sun goes down is a whole new experience. Especially if it’s 100 feet down to a giant shipwreck! Everything that’s there in the sunlight is there at night, but with the artificial LED dive lights we provide, everything glows and the world becomes more like outer space!
After diving with us earlier this afternoon with along with their wonderful mother Bonnie, Mike and Jim decided to brave the darkness a mile out to sea for a nocturnal scuba adventure!
Trying to get the most out of their stay in Honolulu the two brothers joined us on The Scuba Cat as we made way to The Sea Tiger and their third dive of the day and night!
Having seen the hulking shipwreck in the day they were able to appreciate its grandeur on a night time macro diving experience. Sea creatures with eyes aglow, vibrant colors of the fish in their circles of light and the graceful octopus are truly a sight to see!
Giant sleeping Hawaiian Green Sea Turtles tucked into the safety of the cargo holds below deck seem serene and ominous at the same time.
Surprisingly the slower paced descent to the bottom of the sea floor was easier on the air consumption as the two brothers dived like pros.
We stumbled upon odd sea cucumbers and Spanish Dancers that did their traditional ballet in the cold dark depths. The 20 minutes wasn’t long enough for them by the way they ranted after surfacing and comparing pictures that we took.
So take it from me, I’d like nothing better than to guide all of you through the swim throughs and over the decks of our premiere shipwrecks, day or night!
Please check out our website for easy booking soon for your next scuba diving itch!
Aloha to Everyone on this Holiday Week which was made for diving in these warm tropical waters off the south shore of Oahu.
Mahalo to Mike and Jim for allowing me to share our underwater paradise. Come back soon for more fun in and out of the sun with Rainbow Scuba Hawaii!
