Fantastic Hawaii Scuba diving with Rainbow scuba Hawaii
Aloha and Greetings to you on this Thanksgiving afternoon! Following our great morning of scuba diving the shipwrecks and reefs this holiday brought us to an afternoon of more fun. It was time to Discover Scuba Diving with six first time brave visitors. Twins sisters Samantha, Melissa and their brother Shaw teamed up with online booking beginners Iris, Julie and Jonas. Regardless of who you know before you step aboard The Scuba Cat, it’s safe to say that you’re all great friends after! Rainbow Scuba Hawaii prides itself on comfortable personalized service. Bench seats for all divers and no cattle car or rushed shared boat dives here! Safety briefings, knowledge and repeated skill reviews done my our experienced staff gets everyone into a confident comfort zone. Before heading out of the slip we still offer the different choices of diving after you’ve been fully informed.
That being said, the dauntless members today’s expedition made way east towards famed Turtle Canyon Reef. This is where we made our first of two shallow reef dives. They don’t call it Turtle Canyon for no reason. There were Hawaiian Green Sea Turtles everywhere we looked. Plenty of pictures to prove they dived and as a souvenir to brag with were clicked off. Excellent visibility made this 36 foot average depth dive last a good 37 minutes! Not bad for a bunch of Discover Scuba Divers.
Having a great first dive under their weight belts motoring over to Nautilus Reef was filled with chatter and excitement to do it again. So, that’s exactly what we did. Viewing sharks, colorful schools of fish, moray eels and the obligatory octopus encounter was the highlight of the vacation. Dozens of underwater pictures were a pleasure to take. Posting them on Facebook at no extra cost is another reason for the popularity of reserving a spot on our boat!
As we pulled into the harbor smiles and delighted faces overwhelmed me on this Thanksgiving Day on the crystal clear, sunny Pacific Ocean off of the shores of famous Waikiki Beach! Be sure to visit our website for easy online booking and answers to frequently asked questions. RainbowScuba.com is the ticket to the greatest activity of your Oahu vacation. Mahalo and Aloha for choosing Rainbow Scuba!
Until tomorrow’s adventure,
Jeff, Ken & Captain Mark wishing you all the best!
Aloha & Happy Thanksgiving!
That’s right, Rainbow Scuba Company celebrated the holiday with a full day of scuba diving! We ran the gamut on skill levels of scuba divers who chose to spend Thanksgiving underwater. Our experienced crew has no problem showing our thanks by guiding newly certified open water divers to a mid morning deep shipwreck dive.
As were the three days that Sydney, her folks Steve and Lynn enjoyed. Also joining us this morning were Megan and Dan who were also finishing up her open water certification. Yes, it was a mixed boat load of great people! You can’t get a more diverse group of divers on one charter. Having two instructors working as a team to accommodate your scuba needs is what we enjoy. You’d be hard pressed to find this kind of personalized service on a private boat anywhere else in Hawaii.
As we departed Kewalo Basin Harbor, home base of The Scuba Cat, Captain Mark made way to the double shipwrecks YO-257 and San Pedro for the first of our two Honolulu scuba diving adventures.
The wind at the two wrecks was gusty, but unbelievable visibility and minimal current made this venue a good decision. Following me after I moored us up to the YO-257, Sydney & Steve took their giant strides into the Pacific Ocean blue! Descending the guideline at an even, controlled pace was a perfect way to start the day. Upon touchdown on the bow of the sunken ship we stopped to snap some pictures with a lounging Hawaiian Green Sea Turtle. Diving down to the sea floor to make the crossing towards the San Pedro we passed more turtles hovering above and a large bait ball of Akule and Moorish Idols. Beautiful schools of fish to accompany us during the dive. Passing in and out of the two wrecks we waved to the passengers of the electric submarine that shares the sea at this sought after dive site. You could see the faces of the submariners looking excited and jealous of our freedom to weave in, over and around without the claustrophobic odor of the sub!
Our 20 minute excision 90 feet below left Steve and Sydney with ear to ear smiles as we passed the surface interval on route to Nautilus Reef. This is where Ken completed Megan’s open water certification with Dan tagging along. All the while Sydney, Steve and myself followed around the resident white tipped reef shark that patrols the ledge on the Diamond Head ridge if the site. A humongous octopus encounter filled a good portion of our 40 minute shallow 40 foot dive!
A loaded memory card of undersea pictures in the 90 foot visibility morning ended our excursion to the satisfaction of our guests. Remember that when you book dives with Rainbow Scuba Hawaii all your underwater photos are always free and always good. Take a peek of the albums on Facebook to preview your next best part of Hawaii scuba diving charters!
Until later today Mahalo and Aloha,
Jeff, Ken and Captain Mark!
Aloha to to everyone,
As we approach the Thanksgiving holiday, we at Rainbow Scuba are gearing up for a busy turkey day. On this eve of Thanksgiving there have been great conditions and even better customers. Today finishing up her open water certification was Sydney. Joined, of course by Steve, Lynn, and Karol who will dive along with discover scuba diver Geeshan. As I eluded to earlier the conditions during this Hawaii winter week have been spectacular! Mild current underwater and fabulous visibility make for near perfect diving conditions.
Having an afternoon scuba tour allows our customers a relaxing, pressure free morning to get prepared for the adventure ahead! This is made possible due to Rainbow Scuba’s flexible scheduling via online booking or phone reservations. Check out our user friendly interactive website! RainbowScuba.com will have answers to all your Honolulu scuba inquiries.
As our customers filtered in by our arranged discounted transportation or personal vehicles The Scuba Cat and her crew were ready and waiting to greet them. Having the gear already set up is just part of our customer service oriented goal to a great Waikiki Scuba experience.
Our first dive site destination was the popular Turtle Canyon Reef. This shallow 32 foot 37 minute scuba dive exposed all of us to an unusually large amount of Hawaiian Green Sea Turtles. Passing us during the dive we saw a large Spotted Eagle Ray in very shallow water! The octopus encounter ended the dive in epic fashion!
Don’t change the channel yet, because we still have one more dive to go. We unhooked and made way to Horseshoe Reef for the ultimate finish to a great day. Immediately upon entry we were surrounded by schools of colorful fish inside the confines of the reef. 80 foot visibility during this 35 minute dive made the average 40 foot dive long and relaxing. You can bet there were White Tipped Reef Sharks, Sea Turtles and a pair of Sponge Crabs that were hiding in the crags of the reef! Underwater picture taking is so easy and fun during crystal clear water conditions. We definitely took advantage of this great visibility!
Remember that We at Rainbow Scuba have been a crew that’s been working together longer than any other in Honolulu company. We know what diving enthusiast want and we accommodate gladly. All of your underwater photographs are free as a memory of your dive. Posting them on Facebook upholds our motto that your pictures are always free and always good! Please peruse former albums of other dives to know that we aim to please!
Mahalo to all who chose us!

Today’s scuba diving day was a perfect example of such. We entertained a full boat of six assorted ocean enthusiasts. Aboard our dive boat, the Scuba Cat were, Steve and his family Lynn and open water student Sydney. Also joining us were Laryn and her son Zachary who were first time Discover Scuba divers! We even had Kim along as a rider! The sunny winter’s here in Hawaii provide a great relief from the bitter cold of the mainland. So, why not come scuba diving with us?Everyone chose to do two shallow reef dives. Having an experienced staff at Rainbow Scuba Hawaii makes all this possible with ease. We geared up, briefed and captain Mark made way towards Turtle Canyon Reef. They don’t call it that for no reason! All scuba divers witnessed dozens of Hawaiian green sea turtles in their natural environment amongst the crystal clear Pacific Ocean blue. The nearly 100 foot visibility during our 35 foot 42 minute dive gave us plenty of time to enjoy photo op’s, fish gazing and even an octopus encounter! Everyone was in awe of the dive while we spoke with candor about it on the surface.
Captain Mark, Ken and I decided that the next site should be Horseshoe Reef. Not only is it a great dive site on a crystal clear day our flexible schedule allows us to give you the customer a scuba dive virtually free of other divers! The sighting of white tipped reef sharks, hoards of tropical fish and great undersea topography made this relaxing dive a special treat. It also gave us plenty of time to snap of dozens more underwater pictures.

Aloha to all scuba divers,
One of the best parts of my job as a guide for Rainbow Scuba Company Hawaii is meeting new people.
Today was no exception.
Joining us from Orange County, California were newly certified ocean enthusiasts Nancy and Vince. Also aboard was our new friend and experienced open water certified scuba diver Veronica.
This was Nancy and Vince’s first deep shipwreck dive, but globetrotting Veronica’s double digit wreck dive.
Thus, proving the point that our company’s commitment to customer service is alive and kicking!
Everyone showed up early and on time to Kewalo Basin Harbor. All of our customers were fitted and familiarized with their diving gear during the pre-dive briefing.
Then, we pointed The Scuba Cat out to sea with our destination being The Sea Tiger!
Although the skies weren’t extremely sunny the visibility of the ocean was fantastic. We moored up to the massive shipwreck to start our morning adventure into the pacific blue ocean off of Waikiki. Descending along the line to the 90 foot depth was steady and amazingly clear. We dived our allotted 20 minutes with a 3 minute safety stop. On the surface during our long interval everyone was chatting about the giant green sea turtles, schools of Moorish Idols and humongous octopus that we encountered during our exploration of the shipwreck. Even with the difference in experience and skill levels the premier deep dive was a breeze giving dozens of photo opportunities!
Of course, as usual, all the underwater photographs are included in your dive package and posted for free on Facebook!
We soon shot over to Nautilus Reef for our second shallower scuba dive. The visibility was close to 90 feet! Making our 40 foot average depth and 40 minute bottom time relaxed and enjoyable to all. Coming across the resident white tipped reef sharks, moray eels and octopus gave everyone plenty of time to appreciate the solitude of diving a site free of others people. This benefit of owning the dive site to ourselves is no accident. Rainbow Scuba’s flexible schedule and easy online booking makes every dive tour virtually a private charter!
So do yourselves a favor when visiting our beautiful island. Call ahead or visit our website to reserve your memorable scuba diving experience.
Mahalo to everyone that chose us to guide you in the place we call home!
Until tomorrow’s epic adventure,
Jeff, Ken and Captain Mark
